Overview:

Some people call this game a Daughter Simulator and I do not agree.  Pragmata is a game with our protagonist, Hugh Williams, going through a destroyed lunar colony using your robot pragmata friend, Diana, in hacking all sorts of robots and machinery to find out why it was destroyed.  Diana is a little girl [robot] who has no concept of the human world so you’ll be explaining all sorts of things which seem trivial to us.  While all this is happening, the robots are trying to kill you but luckily she has the ability to hack them.  The hacking is done on a grid of tiles with you navigating the node trying to get to the end.  There are powerups which enhance the hack causing more damage on the robots.  After this is done and the robots are weak, Hugh can bust out his trusty guns and take care of the rest.  It’s a very old school feeling game.

HACKING!

Visuals:

It really does feel like a corridor shooter at times because you’ll be confined to some pretty enclosed areas only for the vistas to open up.  It isn’t an open world game since the game telegraphs where it wants you to go.  The main characters of Hugh and Diana look terrific and emote really well.  The enemies are also pretty cool looking as they combine a sort of robotic bio-mechanical look to them, but not so much.  I don’t know how to explain it, but it is interesting.  When the vistas of the levels open up, you do get some pretty jaw dropping scenery that is a nice departure from the sterile world.

Space Magic!

Audio:

The dialog between Hugh and Diana is very fun to hear.  It really does feel like a kid just curious about the world asking question after question.  As far as the rest, when a robot spots you you get a jarring TWANG to alert you that shit is about to go down.  I was really impressed with how the game presented this world.  Going into zero atmosphere is also different as no sound causes everything to sound muffled.  Like when your ears are blocked.  I couldn’t wait to get out of these places.

You’ll get a lot of questions!

I FINISHED THIS GAME!  I found it a nice throwback to games of yesteryear and was full of collectibles and trials.  The story wasn’t pretentious or hard to follow.  The gameplay was fantastic and was always a joy to play.  It really was wonderful.  I’d love to see if they do anything with this world as it has a lot going for it.

I do love me some easter eggs!
