Overview:

A side scrolling beat-em up Batman game based off of the Batman Returns movie.  You’ll take control of Batman as he tries to thwart the thugs of Gotham City.  If you’ve seen the movie, you know what kind of enemies I’m talking about and it seems like everyone is accounted for.  Batman has his usual toys but I couldn’t figure out how to use them.  

Visuals:

I have to hand it to Konami, they know how to make their characters look pretty damn cool in these types of games.  Batman looks like a fuckin tank and all the enemies look like their counterparts from the movie.  You get some nice little expositional dialog at the beginning of the game which set up why you’re doing what you’re doing.  The backgrounds could leave something to be desired, but that’s how Batman Returns kinda was.

Audio:

I’m not impressed with the audio of the game.  It sounds like a generic Adventures of Bayou Billy knock off.  The hits land nicely at least, but everything else leaves more to be desired.  The music is kinda catchy jaunty stuff though.

Completion:

Okay, apparently you only have one life in the game and, if you fuck up, you have to start back at the beginning of the stage you were at.  What the hell?!  I died at, what I presume is the boss, and it bumped me back all the way to the beginning.  It was a fun game but I am not going to subject myself to that again.  Goddamnit, Batman Returns!  You should have been better than this!
