The Purpose: To play EVERY game that was released on the Nintendo Entertainment System ON EVERY SYSTEM and write about them to show my descent into insanity. Will this better help my understanding about the system or will it destroy my nostalgia factor that so many of us have for this console. Who knows?! So be prepared as I Endure the Game Gauntlet [EGG]!
The purpose of this site is to ATTEMPT to play all the Nintendo Entertainment System games that were released. Unfortunately it would be an even more massive undertaking to acquire all the psychical copies of games made for this beast of a system not to mention with the well known reliability of the system and cartridges themselves, it just wouldn’t be practical. So, I went towards the seedy side of things and went ROM wise. I don’t promote the use of ROMs, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. :C If it makes everyone feel better, I do own [or did at one time] many of the games and still have my working Nintendo system sitting next to my more modern consoles. So, yay!
This is more of a personal delve into the older games to see just where exactly our culture came from. I grew up with these games and, with the advent of more modern consoles over time, I really never went back to play many of the games I owned as I grew up. Like other forms of media, such as books, music or movies, the evolution and history is an even more exciting “adventure” than just always being in the new. We’ll see what I think when I’m done with it!
Now for some…”private” information about myself. I am, what some would call, a traditional gamer. I prefer the more conventional ways of playing games on the Xbox 360 or the PlayStation 3 rather than the Wii. I also do enjoy WoWing it up on a constant basis so you can kind of see where I’m going. It’s not a biased approach to the whole “innovative” mechanic that Nintendo is trying to shove down our throats, but more of the opinion that I just don’t find those games fun. Also I really like the non-game features of the PS3 and 360 plus the online initiative which greatly determines which version of a game I’m going to get. One last thing, I’m a techno-geek. I want my audio to be fucking epic and not some shitty composite L/R douchebaggery while having my games to be in lovely HD goodness, but that’s more personal preference. :X
