Overview:
The story starts on the outskirts of Raccoon City with killer dogs wiping out your team and forcing you and your friends (?) into a mansion. Here you traverse through rooms and solve puzzles. Really there isn’t that much to this game. Oh yeah, there are also zombies, giant snakes, zombie dogs, a giant monster, and other baddies all wanting to kill you. Also the movement is really terrible [it makes sense], you have no ammo, you die pretty quickly, and you can’t really save. GOOD LUCK!

Visuals:
When this came out I so wished it came out on the N64. We never got games that looked so realistic like this. It wasn’t until later we got ours. As simple as this game looks, it is very effective with giving the dread and horror it was setting out to do. The pre-rendered backgrounds gave off a spooky enough vibe for the time that we were all terrified. The FMV also helped to instill fear in players, even if the doggies were puppets.
Audio:
The dread of the visuals carries on with the soundtrack and sounds throughout the environments. The zombies shuffling and moaning give you enough to want to put them out of their misery (?) as quick as possible. I can’t say the soundtrack is anything to really right home about but the first couple of tracks are ingrained in my head.
Completion:
The reason why the tracks are in my head? Because that’s the same portion of the game I’ve been playing over and over again since it released. I start it up an say I’m going to play though it only to give up because, goddamn, this game is so fucking clunky. I don’t even get killed, I just stop because it’s a chore. I know I’ve beat it on the GameCube remaster but that’s for a different time. Maybe I’ll cheat and beat it. Yeah…that’s it.
