Overview:

Duck Game is a retro inspired, HEAVILY inspired by the Sega Genesis, 2-D competitive shooter game in which you play as a duck with a gun on a mission to kill other players who are also ducks with guns.  All kills are one hit kills, and the levels rotate in and out.  You can set the matches to be however long you want and add modifiers to make the game whatever you want.  Main thing to mention is how hectic this game can get when you have two or more players all vying for the title.

Is this a Sega Genesis?

Visuals:

This game is wanting to be a Sega Genesis game so much so it gives you the copyright notice in the same way you’d get it from that system.  Granted this game wouldn’t be able to work on that system because what they’re doing is advanced for that time.  Either way, the simple graphics for this game are pretty good for what it is.  The characters stand out well and the levels are nice and diverse.  The main bread and butter are the hats you can get throughout the game, and they add a nice flair so you can differentiate one duck from another.

No, it’s not…but close…

Audio:

Like the visuals, the game is SO wanting to be a Sega Genesis.  The Genesis sound grime is there from the very beginning.  All the music is based on that system but are different enough where it sounds unique to the game.  The sound effects are not trying to be the Genesis too much but it’s still there.  Like the hats, the main sticking point to the game is quacking.  You can quack at a push of a button and can do it CONSTANTLY.  You can also change the pitch of it so it’s amazing.

Completion:

You can’t really complete this game, but I did get most of the trophies.  It is a main staple of my gaming night and adding mods has improved this game immensely.  What a lovely little game.

Standing with authority!
