Overview:

Arkanoid is a brick smashing game, so to speak. It’s in the same vein as Breakout in that your task is to maneuver the “Vaus”, or paddle, on the bottom of the screen to prevent the ball falling from the screen all the while knocking it back to bricks at the top of the screen. Along the way you obtain power-ups to either change the way the game plays or to progress to the next level.

Visuals:

This is a pretty basic game with not much to really nitpick about. The bricks at the top are a rainbow assortment with the paddle being a nice little grey/red thing. There are some enemies that move around and do shit so that adds a nice change to the game.

Audio:

There was, if i remember, hardly any music in this game. You’re just greeted with mostly blips and bloops of the ball interacting with the paddler or bricks. It wasn’t bad nor was it too little.

Completion:

Round 1 started out pretty good up until the point I got the fucking 3 ball power-up which sent me chasing to try to at least get one of them. In my haste I failed and missed all three causing my first death at 4570 pts.

I died later on in Round 1 at 8480 pts. due to a power-up I got earlier that increased my paddle. I had gotten accustomed to the size and, while trying to knock a ball, it shrunk, causing me to whiff it by a smidge.

I finally managed to get to Round 2 at 25750 pts. by getting the Energy, or something, power-up which makes a little fence on the side that I was afraid to go through for fear of death.

Death 3 and 4 came pretty quickly at 33360 and 33440 pts. with me missing the balls while attempting to get power-ups.

I had a blast with this game, but it’s mostly because it was what I played on my phone heavily on my first day of college.
