Lolo 2 is a direct sequel to the first game. There are very few changes made to this game with the puzzles being the main thing. There really isn’t any story referenced in-game but, from what I gathered, is that Lala was captured again and, instead, is being held in a tower this time. It is up to your character, Lolo, to complete the puzzles put in front of you to destroy the EVIL HAND and rescue your woman. Did I mention this game is a DIRECT SEQUEL??!
This game looks EXACTLY like its predecessor. All the animation, enemies, items and such are all lifted out of the first game. That’s not to say it’s a bad thing since the first game was good, it just kind of leaves a sour taste in your mouth because of how nice it’d be able to see more details in the environment and characters.
The audio is also lifted, pretty much, verbatim from the first game. The only update I noticed was in the background music. It was a different compilation slightly and had a larger sample size. Everything else was the same.
The start of this game has you walking into a tower to go rescue your woman from the evil clutches of some giant hand thing and you’re given five lives [and a very simple password system] to do it in.
My game was going smoothly for my first life with me completing two levels and having to commit suicide on the third due to a fuck up. Unfortunately it took me a couple of more tries to get the third stage’s puzzle down and complete it with two lives remaining.
Stage five was a bitch because of an enemy shooting shit at me whenever I got in its direct line of view. It wasted all my lives and called it there. A little experiment I did was just to see where the “Continue” left me off and, lo and behold, it dropped me right where I left off. I could see this game being a nice continuation if you enjoyed the puzzle nature of the first game.
