Overview:

You control Hazel, a 20 something in the middle of the deep south as she goes on quest to find her mom who was lost in a hurricane. As you go through the game you stumble upon very strange creatures and people who could potentially help you on your mission. You traverse many worlds and help people along the way as you gain more and more powers to help you find your mom.

Good lord this game is beautiful!

Visuals:

Man, this game looks beautiful. I wouldn’t say the style is unique, since a lot of other games do the same type of visuals, but it is super effective for this game. The framerate is purposefully jerky which can be a little jarring at first, but man, everything in here looks beautiful. The main characters look amazing while Catfish and Two-Toed Tom are absolutely stunning with the amount of design and care that went into them. The only thing kind of lacking are the baddies since they all blend in together.

And wonderful voice acting!

Audio:

The music and ambiance is super catchy. The main songs that happen when you fight the bosses just keep going and motivate you to defeat them. Everything around the environment has the deep south vibe going for it which, to me at least, seems like it hasn’t been done.

Completion:

I FINISHED THIS GAME! The combat was really lackluster for this game but the rest of the package was so good. I loved the story and the characters. Usually, 20 somethings bother the fuck out of me in modern media, but Hazel was actually quite enjoyable as were her interactions with the world around her. It was also a pretty short game but it was so fun to play, besides the combat.

It makes sense…
