Overview:
I really can’t tell what this game was about. I was some mech who crashed on a planet and then got thrust into missions trying to recover Coral. Then I was in a hanger the entire time just getting emails and doing virtual fights to make my Armored Core (AC) better? I dunno. It was really hard to follow.
Visuals:
Gray. That’s all there really is for the beginning of the game. A gray mess that permeates all the characters and environment. Eventually it opens up to sand or snow but it’s still just all gray. The hanger your AC is hanging out in is all gray. It’s up to you to start painting your AC to at least make them colorful. I made mine into Spider-Man and then eventually Hulk. The AC are also just so uninteresting that I just didn’t care what they looked like and just started putting things based on stats alone. Even then, the grayness of everything just makes it pointless. Also, you have no scale to show how big these machines are. You see shipping containers or cars around the world but your AC are just zipping and skating all over the place, they feel like they have no mass.
Audio:
Everything is just so boring from an audio standpoint as well. Your character never talks and the chatter you’re getting from the radio may as well just be babble because it’s all just text. Not even a talking head to at least give you some personification. The world and sound design of your AC is also lame since these things are supposed to be hulking masses but there isn’t anything to let you know they’re machines. May as well just be humans skating around.
Completion:
I couldn’t finish this game. I couldn’t take the uninteresting storyline, “characters”, look, audio, etc. Everything about this game, to me, was just a turnoff. I played 6 hours of this and said I was done.
