Overview:

Something magical has happened in the world of Goofy and his pals and it’s kind of bonkers.  A magical stone from outer space that Goofy just wants to put on his tractor but the bad guys won’t let him.  In order to progress the stage you have to complete a round of Tetris and beat up on his friends or enemies.  You’ll get weird pieces depending on whether your opponent got multiple line clear combos and it’s up to you to try to counter them.  The pieces are bonkers and fuck up the style of play completely.  Sometimes some magic will clear the top of your board and allow you to get either a Tetris or the elusive Pentris!

Visuals:

Man, this game looks sharp on the N64.  The sprite work looks crisp and the animations look terrific.  I love the flourish they’ve done to the world with everything looking familiar yet strange.  The Tetris boards also look polished with all sorts of background elements moving around.  It really is a pretty looking game.

Audio:

I love the way the game sounds.  The music is so weird it almost sounds something like a Primus or Gorillaz track and every track is different.  It starts off foreboding then just picks up the frantic pace as the match goes.  There is also all sorts of noises going on in the background but, frankly, you can’t really pay attention to them.

Completion:

I FINISHED THIS GAME!  You can’t pay attention to the background noises because this game is frantic.  You are just constantly trying to match your pieces and not fuck up that everything else you zone out.  I had to ask my wife to tell me what was going on because I wasn’t able to see anything else but the bottom of the board.  The story of the game is weird, for Goofy at least, and it ended with everyone being happy.  I really liked this game and didn’t know what to expect.
