Overview:

It’s a side scrolling game based on the movie. It’s very loosely based but that’s just how things were when movie-tie in games were released. If you don’t know what the Terminator franchise is, it’s about a CYBERNETIC ORGANISM (his words) being sent back in time to kill people…and constantly failing. Also paradoxes happen left and right but it’s best not to think about those.

Visuals:

This is a pretty crisp game, from a gameplay standpoint. The sprites and backgrounds are pretty sharp when you’re actually playing. There was some noticeable slowdown when I was bombarded by Terminators but that’s to be expected since they are VERY TOUGH (his words). The one nitpick about this game, and pretty much every game from this era that utilized them, the FMV is atrocious. I get that’s kind of the tech of the time, but mang that was rough.

Sweet resolution…

Audio:

The soundtrack isn’t bad. It’s CD quality audio and the sound effects are nice and crisp. It’s very much a banger with its metal and rock and of the time, it just loops.

Completion:

I was terminated in the first level. There are just so many of the fuckers all over the place that I kept getting killed. There is a generous checkpoint system so I did progress through the level but it took all my lives. I finally took out the last bigger robot and, as I was about to jump to complete the level [there is a nice big EXIT sign to show you where to go], I fell to my doom. At least they didn’t get the satisfaction of killing me so I got that going for me, which is nice.
