Overview:
A sequel to 1942 (Get it?!), 1943 is a vertical shooter game in which you control a tiny little plane in 1943 to take out as many enemies as possible. You will face a barrage of small, medium, and large planes as well as battleships and destroyers who are all hell bent on taking you out! Luckily you can get power ups to help you become more powerful as well as a secret screen clearing weapon that destroys all in your path.
Visuals:
Not much can really be said about 1943 that isn’t the same as the game before it. Your ship is tiny and you fight tiny other planes. Occasionally you’ll get to fight the big ones but the real new stuff is getting to take on ships of all sizes. These seem like mini boss fights but they are what let you progress through the levels.
Audio:
It is much improved from its predecessor! The music is banging. The shots are going and everything is all cool. Until…until your energy starts running low and you just get a constant shrill and faster annoying music. It takes you out of the game and just makes you want to stop playing.
Completion:
I got through two overhead levels and then succumbed to the battleships on the second ground (sea) forces level. I didn’t understand how I actually died because my E level was constantly at 00 but I could still get hit. I’m not sure how lives actually worked since it seemed like I only had one life. I dunno but really don’t care as this game just really wasn’t fun. It was just constant.
